Job Summary

Balch & Bingham LLP is seeking a HR and Payroll Coordinator to support the HR department in carrying out various human resources programs and initiatives.  The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, organized, and able to work with a variety of different people.

Responsibilities
  • Application and resume screening, background screenings and reference checks
  • Collecting, tracking and processing time sheets and administering the PTO program
  • Processing payroll including salaries, hours worked, garnishments, insurance premiums, 401(k) deductions, and taxes
  • Maintaining HRIS records and personnel files
  • Analyzing data and preparing reports
  • Preparing new hire materials and conducting new employee orientation
  • Assisting in the planning and coordination of various HR events such as health fairs, open enrollment and training
  • Completing I-9 forms, documentation, and E-Verify
  • Responding to payroll inquiries, verifications of employment, and other HR inquiries
  • Assisting with the preparation and administration of performance evaluations
  • Assisting with various research projects and/or special projects.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Human Resource Management, or one to three years’ experience in the HR field, or similar combination of education and experience
  • Previous payroll experience desirable
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion
  • Handle and adjust effectively to competing deadlines and priorities and produce accurate and timely results
  • High level of interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication, to handle sensitive and confidential situations
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a wide variety of team members and personalities
  • Client service focused
  • Ability to consider a multitude of situations and generate ideas and resolutions with limited supervisor involvement
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and databases or similar software
